The 2015 Nijkerk Youth to Schenectady was well attended and they had some new experiences, including zip-lining and yachting around in New York Harbor.
The 2013 Schenectady Adult Exchange to Nijkerk was wonderful!...
The adult exchange was historic. Nijkerk agreed to formally create a sister city relationship, and there were markers, banners, and proclamations exclaiming the relationship. Connie and Michael were given medals of honor by the City of Nijkerk for their years of dedication to the exchange. The preparation for presenting the medals was done in complete secrecy, which meant a *big* surprise for both of them.
The 2013 Nijkerk Youth to Schenectady exchange was also a success!...
The
Nijkerk youth were here August 1st to August 12th...if you missed this extraordinary transfer of friendship across the ocean please join in our next youth exchange....if you would like to be a host family for a Dutch boy or girl please contact Connie.
The 2012 Adult Exchange to Schenectady was a success!
Our adult Dutch guests from Nijkerk were here....all arrived safe and sound.
From Whiteface gondolas to boating on the Mohawk, from GE to Niagara to overlooking the Hudson, everything went very well....lots of fun and activities for all interests.
The next adventure will be a trip to Nijkerk in June of 2013....stay tuned!
The 2012 Youth Exchange of Americans to Nijkerk has been completed
We had a great exchange...our ten American youth had a fine program provided by their Dutch hosts. We even had an (unplanned!) extra bonus day in the Netherlands, which provided some anxiety and hilarity, but had no bad consequences.
Schenectady Colonial Festival hosts fabulous first dinner February 8,
2011
The Schenectady/Nijkerk Council with the
aid of the Community Archaeology Program of Schenectady County Community College sponsored a dinner on February 8, 2011 as part of the events for the Colonial Festival at the Glen Sanders
Mansion. It was a very
special evening with artist Len Tantillo showing and discussing his artwork. Over 200 people attended, and all who were there participated in the very first of what we hope will be many future such gatherings.
